Ninjas become game builders/designers as part of our Afters program offering! They will learn logic, problem solving, reasoning and computer science concepts by creating various ScratchJr games. – such as Space Jam, Secret Agent, I Spy and Maze Olympics – and develop their own original games.

In this program, players will be introduced to the art of improv comedy through short form games and exercises that are designed to make you think on your feet, collaborate with others and follow the fun, all while practicing the fundamentals of improvisation! No prior improv, acting or theater experience necessary. Improv is for everyone! Why is improv good for kids? Aside from being a team based activity that is rooted in the fundamental human skills of active listening, collaboration, using your imagination and having fun, improv has been proven to increase divergent thinking and creativity in children!

Now is your chance to take a deeper dive into beginning and intermediate drawing skills. Focusing on realism, students will learn shading techniques, composition, and proportion to create beautiful complete drawings.

Mrs. Murphy will lead young artists who will focus on drawing and painting through an exploration of color, line and shape. Using a variety of media like markers, watercolor, and paint. Study other artists and experiment with techniques, creating landscapes, portraits and still life. Have fun, and discover the artist within.

Encourage your child’s enthusiasm for art and help develop his or her drawing skills with a Young Rembrandts™ drawing class. Young Rembrandts™ Drawing curriculum uses a structured stepwise format to teach elementary students useful drawing skills, while developing creative thinking strategies. This fall, embark on a cultural journey with "Autumn Artifacts: Pottery from Around the World" at Jimmy Potters' mobile pottery workshop! Each week, young artists will explore a new country, delving into its rich pottery traditions and crafting their own clay creations inspired by global masterpieces. From the intricate designs of Moroccan ceramics to the vibrant patterns of Mexican Talavera tiles, children will experience the beauty and history of diverse cultures. This workshop offers a unique blend of cultural education and hands-on creativity, perfect for sparking curiosity and artistic expression. Fast-paced, coordination enhancing, and encouraging players to “think like a team”, basketball offers much to young athletes even beyond getting better at the game itself. Skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, defense and teamwork are all highlighted in this layered program. No equipment needed, hustle required!

Come play the Cos Cob Favorite, Capture The Flag. Students will be mixed weekly and split into two teams and can score three different ways! Students can run the ball across the midline for 1 point, run the ball through a gate for 2 points, or throw a completed pass worth 3 points. This class will be outdoors whenever possible.

Let's get creative with cardboard! In this class, we'll use cardboard and other materials in the makerspace to build unique and imaginative creations. You are limited only by your imagination!

Chess Max of Greenwich is part of the Chess Max Academy chess schools system and is founded and organized by Grandmaster Max Dlugy, a former World Chess Champion. The program has raised over 25 National Chess Scholastic champions and many schools associated with Chess Max Academy have won top places in the county at National events. Chess Wizards is a premier chess education company providing fun, informative and challenging chess lessons to students in PreK-8th grade. Our program is made for children at every step of their chess journey – no matter the skill level – with classes that build upon each other, starting with the basics and moving toward more advanced lessons as your child progresses from one session to the next. Chess Wizards teaches children how to problem solve, think critically, win graciously, and accept defeat with dignity and sportsmanship. Learn chess with Magnus Academy (formerly Silver Knights), world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy! We've taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time. This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time.
