Discover, experiment, and create with Ms. Roth! Students will explore a variety of mixed media materials and art processes in a small class setting which encourages self-expression, risk taking, curiosity and creativity. All projects will be a holiday/winter theme. (15/18)

Our young scientists will get to experiment with creativity and outside of the box thinking while learning about science. Scientific concepts are introduced through hands-on projects like exploring the water cycle with colorful raindrops, learning about molecular binding through painting, and exploring what traits make animals special by creating their own creatures! Our young scientists are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, experiment, and explain their reasoning and problem-solving. As a result, they will deepen their collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills, as well as their understanding and interest in science. (10/12)

In this very special holiday session, our chefs-in-training will enjoy a collection of nutritious and delicious recipes sure to get kids into the holiday spirit! Recipes include sweet potato mini pies, oat milk "eggnog," and shortbread cookies.

Students will design various holiday cards to send to various places to spread holiday cheer (local hospitals, nursing homes, veterans, etc.). Students will do different holiday crafts, focused on the various holidays.

In our Arctic Animal Adventures class, young artists will dive into the enchanting world of winter wildlife while creating delightful pottery inspired by the amazing animals that inhabit our planet's coldest regions. In this hands-on workshop, students will work with real self-hardening clay—no kiln needed! They will craft unique, holiday-themed pieces such as cozy polar bear mugs, perfect for sipping hot cocoa by the fire, and charming penguin ornaments to add a whimsical touch to their holiday decorations. Students will be creating the Riverside School Newscast to be aired by the school on Fridays. They will learn how to use iMovie, be directors and news anchors, create special reports, learn interview skills, and research sports and weather. They build friendships and confidence in front of the camera! Join us as we bring the news to life and make headlines together. Every album is more than pictures - it is a story - your story that you want to relive - not just remember. Arranging photos (not always in the same way on every page) and thinking about your feelings while you arrange them is all part of the process. This whole process is like the writing process! You will be through drafting, revising, and taking it through the final product. Remember: You are the recorder, writer, and producer of your memories! **Students are required to purchase their own photo album (suggested sizes are 12" x 12" or 11" x 14").**

Get ready to freeze the competition! Join Mr. D’Andrea for a winter wonderland of dodgeball fun. Instead of traditional balls, we'll be throwing soft, squishy (yarnballs) snowballs that won't hurt a fly. Build your own snow forts to protect your teammates and strategize your next attack. All students will be participating in a wide variety of sports and activities including team sports, such as Hockey, Football, Handball and Basketball. Each week will be a different team sport played in a round-robin setting. Earn points each week to try become the SPORTS SPECTACULAR TEAM CHAMPS! Join both Mrs. Hancock and Ms. Kelly for several fun afternoons making Taylor Swift Style Friendship Bracelets. Participants will have all materials provided for them and will be allowed to design, create and even trade bracelets with other participants. Taylor Swift music will set the mood for a creative and fun-filled activity!

Did you know that many of our most popular games, crafts and activities are based in mathematical logic and reasoning?! Join the ALP STEM teacher Mrs. Carrie Hancock for various fun and hands-on math themed games and activities which will expose and practice math skills such as multiplication, patterns, number sense, coordinate graphing, geometry, number strategy, money, fractions, measurement and so much more! Students will strengthen mathematical awareness through these fun and creative play-based activities.

Get ready for a frosty adventure with our Winter Wonderland Tag! This class is filled with fun and exciting activities that will keep kids entertained throughout the winter season.
